Lester Flatt was an American bluegrass musician born in 1914 and active until his death in 1979. A skilled guitarist and mandolinist, he became one of the genre's most influential figures through his partnership with banjo player Earl Scruggs. The duo, known as Flatt and Scruggs, helped define the bluegrass sound and achieved significant popularity during their collaboration. Flatt's contributions to the development and popularization of bluegrass music left a lasting impact on American roots music.
