Le Tigre

Le Tigre is an American art punk and riot grrrl band established in 1998 in New York City by Kathleen Hanna, Johanna Fateman, and Sadie Benning. After Benning's departure in 2000, JD Samson joined as her replacement. The group synthesized punk's political edge with electronic production, employing playful samples and lo-fi instrumentation across their sound. Central to their work are feminist themes and socially conscious lyrics. Beyond recorded music, Le Tigre distinguished themselves through multimedia and performance art integration in their live performances, often collaborating with fellow activist-minded musicians and artists.
