La Toya Jackson was an American singer and television personality, born in 1958. The fifth child and middle daughter of the Jackson family, she first achieved prominence on the family's CBS variety television series in the mid-1970s. She subsequently built a solo career as a recording artist, releasing nine studio albums across the 1980s and 1990s through labels including Polydor, Sony Music, and RCA. Her most notable releases included her 1980 self-titled debut album and the 1984 single "Heart Don't Lie." Jackson's work spanned multiple genres including pop, rock, funk, and R&B, and she composed material for various causes, including an anti-drug campaign song for the Reagan administration.
