Samuel Burl Kinison was an American stand-up comedian and actor who rose to prominence in the 1980s. A former Pentecostal minister, Kinison developed a distinctive comedic style marked by explosive outbursts and a characteristic scream that punctuated his routines. He began performing without pay before establishing himself as a regular performer at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles, where he formed friendships with fellow comedians including Robin Williams and Jim Carrey. His confrontational approach and theatrical delivery made him one of the most recognizable figures in stand-up comedy during his career from 1953 to 1992.
