Chuck Berry wrote and recorded this song, which Chess Records issued as his fifth single in September 1956. It later appeared as the third track on his debut solo album, After School Session, released in May 1957, and was also distributed as an EP. The single achieved chart success in fall 1956, reaching number four on Billboard's Most Played R&B In Juke Boxes chart, number eleven on the Most Played R&B by Jockeys chart, and number seven on the R&B Top Sellers in Stores chart.
