Kari Rueslåtten

Kari Rueslåtten is a Norwegian soprano singer, songwriter, and keyboardist born in 1973. She is best known as the lead vocalist and primary songwriter for the doom metal and experimental band The 3rd and the Mortal. As one of the pioneering female-fronted acts in the metal genre, Rueslåtten's work with the band proved influential in shaping the landscape of metal music, inspiring subsequent groups including The Gathering, Flowing Tears, and Nightwish to explore similar sonic territories with female vocalists at the forefront.
