Johnny & the Hurricanes was an American instrumental rock ensemble from Toledo, Ohio, active from 1957 to 2005. The group built their reputation by transforming well-known traditional melodies into rock arrangements, prominently featuring organ and saxophone on their recorded hits alongside guitar-driven B-sides. Their commercial peak occurred between 1958 and 1963, during which they achieved chart success in both America and Britain while building a substantial European audience. A notable moment in rock history came in 1962 when they performed at Hamburg's Star-Club, sharing the bill with the then-obscure Beatles. Johnny & the Hurricanes remained a touring act for nearly five decades, cementing their place in the instrumental rock and rockabilly canon.
