The Jesus and Mary Chain

The Jesus and Mary Chain are a Scottish alternative rock band formed in East Kilbride in 1983. The group centers on the songwriting partnership of brothers Jim and William Reid, who have remained the sole consistent members throughout the band's history. Emerging from the post-punk and indie rock landscape of 1980s Britain, they became influential architects of the noise pop and shoegaze movements. The band achieved significant commercial success in the UK, securing twelve top 40 singles and two top 10 hits on the national charts, establishing themselves as pivotal figures in alternative rock.
