It was initially released as a double A-side single alongside another track. The song gained renewed popularity in the 1990s after appearing in a 1996 film, and subsequently achieved major chart success as a charity single with multiple artists in 1997, reaching the top position in several countries. Reed later re-recorded the song for a 2003 album release.
