"Black Betty" is a twentieth-century African-American work song. While it is frequently attributed to Huddie "Lead Belly" Ledbetter as its composer, historical evidence suggests that James "Iron Head" Baker and Moses "Clear Rock" Platt made the earliest known recordings of the piece.
