Hüsker Dü was an American punk rock band that formed in Saint Paul, Minnesota, in 1979. The group consisted of guitarist and vocalist Bob Mould, bassist Greg Norton, and drummer and vocalist Grant Hart, who remained the core lineup throughout their existence. Initially establishing themselves within the hardcore punk scene, the band gradually evolved toward alternative rock. Mould and Hart served as the primary songwriters, with their contrasting vocal styles—Hart's higher register and Mould's deeper tone—defining the band's sound as they traded lead vocal duties across their catalog.
