This track served as the fourth single and opening song from Avril Lavigne's debut album Let Go, arriving in March 2003. Co-written by Lavigne and Clif Magness, it featured heavier nu metal influences compared to the album's predominantly pop-oriented tracks. The accompanying music video achieved gold certification from the RIAA in September 2003, and the song earned a Grammy nomination for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance, ultimately losing to Pink's "Trouble". Lavigne performed it at the 2003 Juno Awards.
