Gary Lewis & The Playboys was an American pop and rock group led by Gary Lewis, son of comedian Jerry Lewis. Rising to prominence in 1965, the band achieved immediate success with their debut single "This Diamond Ring," which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The group became known for their approachable, wholesome image, drawing comparisons to British Invasion contemporaries like Herman's Hermits and Gerry and the Pacemakers. Throughout 1965 and 1966, they released multiple hit singles, establishing themselves as significant performers of the era. The group disbanded in 1970, though a reformed version later emerged and has continued performing, frequently supporting Veterans' Administration benefits.
