G-Unit was an American hip hop collective founded by 50 Cent alongside East Coast rappers Tony Yayo and Lloyd Banks. Emerging from the early 2000s mixtape circuit, the group achieved mainstream success with their 2003 debut album Beg for Mercy, which became a commercial milestone by selling over two million copies domestically and earning double platinum certification from the RIAA. Uncle Murda joined the lineup in 2016. Operating across hip hop, gangsta rap, and related genres, G-Unit remained active until 2022, establishing themselves as influential figures in East Coast rap during their two-decade tenure.
