Ernie K-Doe was an American R&B singer from New Orleans who achieved mainstream success with his 1961 single "Mother-in-Law," which topped the Billboard pop chart. Born Ernest Kador Jr. in 1936, K-Doe became a prominent figure in the New Orleans R&B scene, contributing to the city's rich musical legacy. Though "Mother-in-Law" remained his signature hit, K-Doe continued performing and recording throughout his career until his death in 2001, leaving an enduring mark on American rhythm and blues.
