Eric Burdon & The Animals was an English rock band that operated as a distinct unit from October 1966 through December 1968. Building on the foundation of the earlier Animals group, which had emerged from Newcastle upon Tyne in 1962, this iteration maintained the ensemble's signature approach to rock and blues. The band drew from psychedelic rock and blues rock influences while preserving the gritty character that had defined their earlier work. Their sound combined hard-edged rock with rhythm-and-blues sensibilities, positioning them within the broader landscape of the British Invasion that reshaped popular music in the 1960s.
