Master of Reality is the third studio album by Black Sabbath, released in August 1971 through Vertigo Records. It was produced by Rodger Bain and recorded at Island Studios in London between February and April 1971. The album is considered by some critics to have established the foundations of stoner rock and sludge metal genres. This marked Bain's final production work with the band, as subsequent albums would be helmed by guitarist Tony Iommi.
