Lou Reed's fourth solo studio album, released by RCA Records in September 1974. The record achieved Reed's best chart performance in the United States, reaching number ten on the Billboard 200 and remaining on the chart for fourteen weeks. It marked his first solo album recorded entirely in the United States and contained no material previously recorded by the Velvet Underground. The album returns to fundamental rock music principles.
