The Edsels

The Edsels were an American doo-wop group from Campbell, Ohio, active during the late 1950s and early 1960s. Originally performing as The Essos, the group renamed themselves after the Ford automobile model. Recording over 25 songs throughout their career, they achieved notable exposure through multiple appearances on Dick Clark's American Bandstand. The Edsels distinguished themselves by securing a contract with Capitol Records in 1961, a major label deal that set them apart from most doo-wop contemporaries who typically worked with independent labels. Early releases including "What Brought Us Together," "Bone Shaker Joe," and "Do You Love Me" preceded their national success with "Rama Lama Ding Dong."
