Ēbn-Ōzn
EBN-OZN was an American experimental new wave synth-pop duo active from 1981 to 1985, based in New York. Composed of Ned Liben and Robert Rosen, the group was instrumental in developing sampling as a sound recording technique. They achieved widespread recognition with their 1983 single "AEIOU Sometimes Y," which became the first commercially released and charted American single entirely created on a computer using a Fairlight CMI synthesizer. The accompanying music video won critical acclaim, and the track was later inducted into the Alternative Music Hall of Fame in 2024, recognized as a "Masterpiece Single."
