Made in Heaven served as Queen's fifteenth and final studio album, arriving in November 1995 through Parlophone Records in the UK and Hollywood Records in the US. This represented the band's first release following lead vocalist Freddie Mercury's death in 1991. The surviving members collaborated with Mercury's pre-recorded vocal and piano contributions, layering fresh instrumentation over them. Recording occurred at the band's Montreux studio. The album achieved significant commercial success, debuting at UK number one and achieving quadruple platinum status with 1.2 million copies sold in Britain, while 500,000 units shipped to America.
