Adam and the Ants
Adam and the Ants were an English rock band that formed in London in 1977, led by frontman Adam Ant. The group initially operated under the name the Ants before adopting their better-known moniker later that year. Beginning as a punk rock outfit, they evolved their sound toward post-punk and new wave aesthetics, releasing one album during their first incarnation. The band's final original line-up featured Dave Barbarossa, Matthew Ashman, and Leigh Gorman. In January 1980, these members departed at the urging of manager Malcolm McLaren to establish Bow Wow Wow. Adam and the Ants dissolved in 1982, leaving behind a brief but influential presence in the British new wave and post-punk scenes.
