DJ Babu, born Christopher E. Oroc, is a Filipino-American DJ, record producer, and turntablist who has been active since the mid-1970s. He is best known for his work as a founding member of the Beat Junkies, an influential Los Angeles DJ collective recognized internationally for their technical skills and contributions to hip-hop culture. Babu has also collaborated extensively as part of Dilated Peoples, a respected hip-hop trio from Los Angeles, and alongside rapper Defari in the duo Likwit Junkies. Beyond his performance work, he has established himself as an educator, sharing his expertise with emerging artists and students of hip-hop production and turntablism.
