Dick and Dee Dee were an American musical duo formed in the early 1960s by California classmates Richard Gosting and Mary Sperling, who later adopted the stage names Dick St. John and Dee Dee Sperling. The pair achieved significant success in the early to mid-1960s, earning their first major hit in 1961 with "The Mountain's High," which climbed to number two on the Billboard Hot 100. Their popularity grew through regular appearances on the television program Shindig! and notable tour dates, including performances with the Beach Boys and as opening act for the Rolling Stones' 1964 California tour. The duo disbanded in 1969 after establishing themselves as prominent figures in the early 1960s pop music scene.
