The Devotchkas

Devotchkas were an American street punk band from New York City that operated from 1996 to 2001. The four-piece group took their name from A Clockwork Orange, the acclaimed film and novel, specifically adopting the Nadsat term "devotchka," which translates to "girl" and has roots in Russian vocabulary. The band's choice of nomenclature reflected their artistic sensibilities and connection to the dystopian cultural work that inspired it.
