Devo is an American new wave band from Akron, Ohio, formed in 1973. The group's core lineup featured two pairs of brothers—the Mothersbaughs and the Casales—alongside drummer Alan Myers. Known for their distinctive blend of rock, electronic, and punk influences, Devo achieved mainstream recognition with their 1980 single "Whip It," which remains their only top 40 Billboard Hot 100 hit. Despite limited chart success, the band cultivated a dedicated fanbase and became influential figures in new wave and synth-punk music, maintaining their presence in popular culture through their experimental approach to rock music.
