"Joe's Garage" appears as a single from Frank Zappa's 1979 album Joe's Garage Act I, following the introductory track "The Central Scrutinizer." While charting only in Norway and Sweden, it became one of Zappa's most frequently played songs on American FM radio during the album-oriented radio era. The song remained part of Zappa's concert setlists from 1980 to 1988. The single version differs from the album version by omitting various special effects, and was later included on the compilation Strictly Commercial.
