Derek and the Dominos were a blues rock band formed in spring 1970 by Eric Clapton, Bobby Whitlock, Carl Radle, and Jim Gordon. The four musicians had previously collaborated in Delaney & Bonnie and Friends, reuniting to create the new ensemble. Dave Mason contributed additional lead guitar during early studio work and their inaugural performance. The band's formation coincided with sessions for George Harrison's album All Things Must Pass. Active for just over a year until May 1971, Derek and the Dominos left a notable mark on blues rock and classic rock music during their brief but influential existence.
