D.R.I. is an American crossover thrash band from the Bay Area that emerged in the early 1980s. Formed in 1982, the group became influential pioneers of the crossover movement, blending hardcore punk intensity with thrash metal instrumentation and speed. Operating at the intersection of California's punk and metal scenes, D.R.I. helped define the sonic aesthetic that would characterize the genre throughout the decade.
