This was Osbourne's inaugural solo studio album, arriving in September 1980 in the United Kingdom and March 1981 in the United States. It marked his initial project following his 1979 departure from Black Sabbath. The album represents the first of two studio collaborations between Osbourne and guitarist Randy Rhoads, whose death occurred in 1982.
