Collins and Harlan were an American vocal duo active from 1903 to 1926, consisting of singers Arthur Collins and Byron G. Harlan. The pair gained popularity performing comic material that included ragtime standards and dialect-heavy songs reflective of early twentieth-century entertainment conventions. Their recordings frequently topped the charts, with notable successes including "My Gal Irene," "I Know Dat I'll be Happy Til I Die," and "Down Among the Sugarcane." The duo is historically significant for their 1916 recording "That Funny Jas Band from Dixieland," which represents an early documented use of terminology that would eventually evolve into the modern word "jazz."
