Physical Graffiti is Led Zeppelin's sixth studio album, released in February 1975 as a double album under their new Swan Song Records label. The band recorded eight newly written songs in early 1974 at Headley Grange, a Hampshire country estate that allowed extensive improvisation and experimentation. To expand the album beyond its initial length, they incorporated seven previously unreleased tracks from sessions spanning three earlier albums. The musical palette encompassed hard rock, progressive rock, rock and roll, and folk styles. Mixing occurred during summer 1974, with release initially planned for year-end but delayed due to manufacturing complications with the innovative die-cut cover design.
