Claude François (1939–1978) was a French pop singer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist known by the nickname Cloclo. Active throughout the 1960s and 1970s, he established himself as a prominent figure in French popular music and variété française. François co-wrote the lyrics for "Comme d'habitude," which became the basis for Frank Sinatra's "My Way," and composed music for other internationally adapted hits. His own catalogue included popular songs such as "Le Téléphone Pleure," "Le lundi au soleil," and "Alexandrie Alexandra." He also gained recognition for French renditions of English-language songs. Beyond performing, François worked as a record producer and dancer, contributing significantly to the development of French pop music before his death in 1978.
