Clan of Xymox, a Dutch rock band formed in 1983, emerged as influential pioneers within the dark wave movement. The group, initially featuring a creative core of three singer-songwriters—Ronny Moorings, Anka Wolbert, and Pieter Nooten—achieved prominence throughout the 1980s. Their early releases appeared on the 4AD label before the band moved to Wing Records, where they achieved notable commercial success including a hit single in the United States. The ensemble continues to perform and record, with Moorings as the last surviving founding member. Their music blends elements of rock, synth-pop, and gothic influences, establishing them as key figures in European dark wave.
