John Lennon wrote and recorded multiple demo versions of this song during 1979 and 1980, initially combining it with another composition called "Real Life". A version was released posthumously in 1988 for the Imagine: John Lennon documentary soundtrack. In 1995, his former Beatles colleagues completed an alternate take as part of The Beatles Anthology initiative, alongside another song titled "Free as a Bird".
