"Hard Times Are Over" was composed by Yoko Ono and initially appeared on the 1980 collaborative album Double Fantasy, which she created with John Lennon. The track subsequently surfaced as the second B-side selection on the extended 12-inch format of Ono's single "Walking on Thin Ice". An earlier rendition recorded during 1974 was later included on Ono's 1997 album A Story.
