Ceremonial Oath
Ceremonial Oath was a Swedish death metal band that emerged from the underground metal scene in 1989, initially performing under the name Desecrator before adopting their now-known moniker in 1991. Active throughout the early-to-mid 1990s, the group specialized in melodic death metal infused with dark thematic elements drawn from mythology and occult imagery. During their seven-year run, they produced three demos, one EP, and two studio albums before disbanding in 1996. Though their tenure proved relatively brief, several members went on to founding or joining notably successful acts, including In Flames and HammerFall, bands that would shape the direction of Swedish metal throughout the following decades.
