Stray Cats
Cats is a sung-through musical created with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, originating from the United States in 1979. The work draws its narrative from T. S. Eliot's 1939 poetry compilation Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats. The musical follows the Jellicles, a feline tribe, through a transformative evening in which they determine which member will be reborn through ascending to the Heaviside Layer. Since its debut, Cats has established itself as a landmark theatrical achievement, ranking among Broadway's fifth-longest-running productions and the West End's eighth-longest-running shows as of 2024.
