It achieved significant chart success, peaking at number two on the US Billboard Hot Black Singles chart, number thirty-nine on the Billboard Dance/Disco Top 80, and number thirty-one on the Billboard Hot 100. Rolling Stone later ranked it ninety-six on their 2022 list of greatest dance songs.
