The Butchies

The Butchies were an all-female punk rock ensemble based in Durham, North Carolina, active from 1998 to 2005. The band became known for their energetic performances and lyrical exploration of lesbian and queer identity within the punk genre. Following their initial disbandment, they reunited in 2010 to tour with Amy Ray of the Indigo Girls in support of Ray's solo album, introducing their music to a new generation of listeners.
