Built to Spill

Built to Spill is an American indie rock band that originated in Boise, Idaho, in 1992. The group is anchored by lead vocalist and guitarist Doug Martsch, who serves as its sole consistent member. Initially conceptualized as a project featuring rotating session musicians for each release, the band eventually established a permanent backing lineup that remained stable for more than ten years. In 2012, Martsch returned to the original rotating-musician approach. Since its formation, Built to Spill has released nine studio albums, establishing themselves as a notable presence in independent rock music.
