The Buggles are an English new wave group that emerged from London in 1977. The band achieved international prominence with their 1979 debut single "Video Killed the Radio Star," which reached number one in the UK and topped charts across 15 additional countries. The core duo of singer and bassist Trevor Horn and keyboardist Geoff Downes defined the group's electronic and synth-pop sound, with Bruce Woolley serving as an additional member between 1977 and 1979. Active through 1981, The Buggles became notable figures in the progressive and art pop movements of the late 1970s and early 1980s.
