Tom Petty wrote and recorded this song with his band the Heartbreakers for their debut album in 1976. The track was released as a single in early 1977 through Shelter Records but did not achieve chart success in America. However, it reached number 40 on the UK charts in August 1977. Years later, it was reissued in 1994 as part of a greatest hits compilation and performed better domestically, reaching number 68 on the Cash Box rankings.
