Reload is Metallica's seventh studio album, released through Elektra Records domestically and Vertigo Records elsewhere. It served as the successor to Load and was created using material recorded during the same sessions as that previous album, with additional recording work completed in 1997 following Load's tour. The band initially considered releasing a double album but ultimately chose to divide the content between two separate releases. This album marked the band's first studio recording with a guest vocalist and the final studio appearance of bassist Jason Newsted.
