Reload is Metallica's seventh studio album, released through Elektra Records domestically and Vertigo Records internationally. It followed their 1996 album Load and was created during the same recording period, with additional sessions occurring in 1997 after touring. The band originally considered a double album but chose to divide the material. This marked the first Metallica studio album featuring a guest vocalist and the final one with bassist Jason Newsted.
