BR5-49
BR5-49 was an American rockabilly and country rock band active from 1993 to 2013. The group was formed by Gary Bennett, Don Herron, Jay McDowell, Chuck Mead, and Shaw Wilson. The band's name originated from a distorted telephone number featured in a comedic car-salesman sketch by Junior Samples on the television program Hee Haw. The lineup underwent several changes throughout its history, with Bennett and McDowell departing in 2001 and being succeeded by Chris Scruggs and Geoff Firebaugh. Both replacements eventually left the ensemble, with Mark Miller joining as bassist during the band's later years.
