Don Giovanni is a two-act opera featuring music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and an Italian libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte. It adapts a centuries-old Spanish legend about a libertine character, originally presented in a 1630 play by Tirso de Molina. The work combines comedic, melodramatic, and supernatural elements. It debuted at the Prague Italian opera company at the National Theatre (now the Estates Theatre) in late October 1787 and is widely considered among the finest operas ever composed.
