"Carmelita" is a country rock composition by Warren Zevon. Canadian artist Murray McLauchlan first recorded the song in 1972 for his self-titled album. Zevon recorded his own version four years later in 1976 on his self-titled release. Linda Ronstadt subsequently recorded her rendition in 1977 as part of her Simple Dreams album.
