Empty Rooms cover

This is a studio album by English blues artist John Mayall released in March 1970 on the Polydor label. It follows his earlier live album from the same year and features the same core musicians including Jon Mark on acoustic guitar and Johnny Almond on saxophones and flute. The absence of a drummer creates an unconventional, fluid rhythmic quality. Notable is a guest appearance by former Canned Heat bassist Larry Taylor on one track.

The songs explore Mayall's romantic relationship with photographer Nancy Throckmorton, to whom the album is dedicated, a subject he would revisit on a subsequent album.
