George Harrison composed this song in 1968 and presented it to the Beatles during their "Get Back" sessions in early 1969. It was not selected for the Let It Be album. Billy Preston released his own rendition on his Apple Records album in 1970. Harrison subsequently recorded his version for his debut solo album, which came out in late 1970, drawing musical influence from the Band's style following his time with them in Woodstock.
What the lyrics are about
Harrison's lyrics were influenced by Timothy Leary's poem "All Things Pass," which was a psychedelic interpretation of the Tao Te Ching.
